Hearst Museum object titled Bowl, accession number 9-12332, described as Bowl, porcelain. White, faintly blue celadon glaze with faint golden colored crackle. Three spots not glazed that show body. A few dark spots on interior bottom. Foot has caked sand on it. Height 6.5cm, Rim diameter 11cm. From Japan, Saga Prefecture (Hizen Province), Karatsu attributed. Korean style.

Stencil applied design of "Chinese boys at play" on sides exterior and interior.  White medallion on center bottom interior with design of two Hoo birds in blue.  Band near foot with bent comb pattern (petals?).  Dee recessed foot.  Height 8.2 cm; Maximum Diameter 18.6 cm.
Hearst Museum object titled Bowl, accession number 9-12720, described as China. Bowl, porcelain; famille rose decoration. Deep, with low belly, nearly straight sides to slightly turned out rim. Dark red flower and grey and green leaves on center bottom. Lozange-diaper pattern band with four oval medallions inset near rim. Medallions have polychrome floral designs; diaper pattern divided into four panels: yellow, grey, emerald green, and light green. Outerside has all-over design of large and small flowers in many colors, including peony, lotus, chrysanthemums, all in enamels with fine-lined black outline and detail. Base has six-character Ch'ien Lung (1736-1795)reign mark within double circle in underglaze blue. Height 8.9 centimeters, diameter 17.9 centimeters.

Exterior has representation of two ducks, and a crane amid lotus. Detail and water waves black. Ju*i scepterhead pattern band beneath rim. Blue dotted band on foot. Gilt on rim. Red seal mark on base of T'ung Chih reign (1862-1875). Glaze surface somewhat worn. Height 5 centimeters, maximum diameter 10.6 centimeters.

Opaque turquoise glaze interior, and base. Exterior enamel decoration: blue jui scepter-heads-band on thick opaque yellow near rim. Below: an emblem of the eight immortals on each of the eight sides in various colors amid fillets and leaf scrollwork on white ground. Multi-colored geometric band on base of bowl, blue curl-work band on foot. Gold on rim. Iron-red reserve seal mark on base of T'ung Chih reign (1862-1874). Surface of interior glaze very scratched, many stains. Height 8.7 centimeters, maximum diameter 21.4.

Heavy enamel decoration covering all of exterior: six Lion-dogs (shih tzu) amidst clouds, some playing with silk-brocade balls, another with a dragon. Enamels are thick, and opaque, with black detail. Traces of gilt between clouds and on rim. Double peach and bat medallion on center interior bottom. Coral-red "seal mark" on base of T'ung Chich reign (1862-1873) of the Ching Dynasty. Height 6 centimeters, diameter 13.2 centimeters.

Mr. True has mended it so it looks finely. It had better not have water put in it. She brought it herself from the Orient. Deep hemispherical, with cut rim forming quatrefoil. Interior bottom convex and narrow diameter, with landscape in underglaze blue wash of various shades. Rest of interior white except band at top following the contour of rim of lattice work with scalloped lower fringe. Exterior: two wide panels with identical river and temple scene landscape including boats, bridge and willow trees. Band at top following contours. On one foil three human faces on the cross-hatched band. Very short recessed foot. Thumb nail-size chip in interior rim. Brown spots in surface. Maximum height 12 centimeters. Maximum diameter 26 centimeters.

Wide mouth globular bowl with cobalt underglaze decoration with landscape motif. Cross-hatched band near rim in dark grey-blue. Below, on one side field design, and lines on opposite side. Blue bands on bottom and foot. Grey-white crackled ground. Rim warped to oval. Foot chipped. Rim broken and mended with gold. Height 7.5 cm, Diameter 10.5 cm. From Japan, Saga Prefecture (Hizen Province), Arita, "Imari" ware. Attributed to Late 18th - Early 19th century.

Large hemisphere shape. Central medallion with five figures, surrounded by key-fret cloud pattern band of gilt. Wide band on interior side with two scenes containing figures. Narrow band near rim with flora and insect design on gilt ground. Exterior: four panels with two alternating designs with figures, surrounded by four of the emblems of the Eight Immortals. Floral bands on gilt near rim and on foot. Five large chips in rim. Broken and mended. Many cracks. Height 9 centimeters, diameter 21.2 centimeters.
