Hearst Museum object titled Katsina figure, accession number 2-72199, described as Corn mother katsina (kachina); carved and painted wooden figure. Green face mask with rectangular eyes and triangular mouth, long black hair, feather with medallion hair decoration. Wears a white shawl with red and black borders and carries a small baby also with turquoise and black face mask and long black hair. Body of both mother and baby are carved to resemble ears of corn. Wears a case mask that is black with a yellow ochre face, rectangular black eyes, with orange beak surrounded by blue crenellation design. Green yarn ruff at neck and around both wrists. Ears are flat, rounded, protuberances painted red and decorated with shells. Wears a leather bandolier decorated with shells and a shell pendant. Body painted pale orange and decorated with rings of blue, red, brown and yellow. Legs are painted yellow; calves and shins, black. Wears a loin cloth and bustle of carved and painted wood tied with a painted woman's sash. Black yarn knee bands with tassels and white moccasins with white fur ruffs, blue leather armlets complete his accessories. Crest of feathers on head has disintegrated. A.L. Sahmie, carver.

Brown fur ruff, falcon's beak of yellow-brown, red and black, and 2 feather dance wands attached to crown. Body painted yellow ochre and white. Wears a breech clout with blossoms and rainbow symbols, attached around waist with a woman's belt. A bandolier of black yarn across chest; shell pendant at neck. Wears feathered wings on each forearm and carries yucca leaf whips in each hand. Boots are red-brown and knee bands are leather with bells, silver and turquoise bracelet on left wrist. Wears a kilt of natural wood decorated with green/red/white/black. Carved feather and plaque bustle (red/yellow/blue). Dancer is barefoot but with green/black/white ankle bands. Black knee bands with tassels, ochre colored armlets and black tasseled wrist band on appendages, and hoot with fringed anklets. Holds a yucca whip on left hand and a bow and arrow in right.
