From this high point a panoramic view unfolds itself, with Kobe in the foreground, and beyond, Osaka and the Mountain of Kii.

Kyoto, because of its antiquity, numerous shrines and temples, is a focal point to which millions of people come annually, some in search of art, some to visit the scenic and historical spots, but mostly pilgrims eager to pray at ancient shrines.
