Kyoto was the captial of Japan for more than one thousand years. It was founded in 794 A. D. by the Emperor Kwammu who was known as the Sovereign of the Heian Era, or "Reign of Peace and Quiet." It is a city celebrated not only for art but for industry, and here is manufactured the famous Satsuma and Cloisonne ware.
