Hearst Museum object titled Hanging, accession number 9-21638, described as Wall hanging; tapestry (Kossu) weaving; flowering plum branches in a tripod container sitting on a vase stand and a goblet; a low vasecontains fleshy blossoms; a spray of flowers and leaves w/ a key are at the bottom.  Patterns are woven in gray, pink, and black on a golden/green ground w/ golden thread on the foot of the goblet.  Entire hanging is bound with a narrow blue/black edging.

Hearst Museum object titled Hanging, accession number 9-21654a,b, described as Wall hanging: Pair of panels are each L= 86.7 cm, W=35.5 cm wide, including a 7.6 cm wide border on all 4 sides.  Central panel of both have 5-toed dragon of gold-warpped thread looking upward at flitting pearl of peace, with peonies, endless knots, bats and clouds above waves, water and rocks.  Additional detail & shading drawn and painted on each central panel.  Each center panel is bordered by a narrow red band, a narrow blue band and a 6cm wide border of patterned brocade fabric with repeating pattterns of medallions and bats. Narrow black band bias edging on all outer edges.  Backed with olive green cloth.  Panel (A) dragon faces left; panel (B) dragon faces right.

Matched pair, brick red background, each  embroidered w/ a pair of phoenix birds w/ eye-of-peacock tail feathers  facing a large peony blossom which emerges from a small hill at center of each, and w/ rocks & leaves.  Patterns are identical w/ slight differences in details. Embroidered in muted greens, pinks, beige, blues.  Borders are made of blue/white/black borcade bands patterned with peonys, dragons and cloud motifs, edged with black silk binding.  Back panels are brick red damask-like fabric.  Label w/ Chinese characters in lower right corner.

Ground is natural beige; rocks, structures, trees, boats, birds and land forms are brown, peach, gray, tan & muliple shades of blue.  Trees have very stylized leaves (from Chinese book on how each leaf should appear; clouds are outlined in two shades of blue.  Piece is surrounded by a narrow green binding, hand sewn.
