Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled basket bowl.  Bundle foundation.  Peeled shoot, possibly sumac, background wefts with black dyed juncus designs.  The design is a four petaled flower. Exterior workface and a rightward work direction with primarily bound under weft fag ends with some clipped fag ends.  Plain wrapped rim, the coil ending is tapered.

It has a deergrass bundle foundation.  The wefts are orange, natural and black-dyed juncus with some sumac.  The design is a diamond-back rattlesnake, a floral design and two v's.  The basket has an oval starting knot. The basket has an interior workface with a rightward work direction. The weft fag ends are bound under.  It has a plain wrapped rim and the coil ending is tapered.

Due to the technique and materials the attribution is Cahuilla.

The designs include a coiled snake with other abstract designs on the sides of the basket.  The workface is on the interior.  The wefts fag ends are bound under and the work direction is to the right.  The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a tapered coil ending.

Coiled rattlesnake design with a band of triangles towards the top of the basket.  Workface is on the interior, with a rightward work direction.  Bound under weft fag ends with a plain wrapped rim with a tapered coil ending which is backstitched for an inch.

String tag "Mission 1938 deer head design" Per Ralph Shanks:  Low broad coiled basket bowl.  Deergrass bundle foundation.  The design wefts are black dyed juncus and a red material.  The design background wefts are sumac.  Designs include two rows of five deer heads.  The top row antlers go to the rim of the basket.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction.  The weft fag ends are bound under. The rim is plain wrapped and the coil ending is tapered with a few backstitches.  There is a hair woven into the basket near the rim.  Basket may have been used.

The background wefts are a light material and the designs are orange and black-dyed juncus. The design is 12 female figures.  The basket has an oval starting knot. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The weft fag ends are clipped and bound under.  The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered coil ending.  The use of materials and the clipped fag ends suggests this is could possibly be Cahuilla.
Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-70122, described as Round, flat base, flaring sides, vertical and horizontal triangular design in dark and light brown on natural ground, coiled. Per Ralph Shanks:  Large basket bowl.  Deergrass bundle foundation.  Base has a sumac weft.  Sides have golden juncus background weft and the designs are natural orange and dyed black juncus.  Plain wrapped rim with herringbone stitched coil ending.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped.  Bound under weft fag ends occasionally appear in the background material.  The design layout is bordered by one coil of black dyed juncus at the base and one coil immediately below the rim.  The primary horizontal band of design is orange triangles outlined in black, two rows below the rim.  Also inside the band are eight sets of five vertical inverted triangles with black outlines and orange interiors.  Basket has a hole where it has been hung.  The basket is attributed to the Gabrielino based several traits.  First, the design layout with a primary band of design two rows from the rim.  The fineness of design and layout. The preponderance of clipped fag ends.  Finally, the use of black dyed juncus that is only partially dyed and is in several shades of dark brown and black.
