Hearst Museum object titled Treasure basket, accession number 1-164425, described as Twined, sub-globular, small; alternating red and straw-color lines in diagonal twining technique. Tag "Klamath River Tribes Att." Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, indented. The warp material is probably willow. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass and red dyed woodwardia fern. At the starting knot there is 3 strand twining for .5 inch followed by 1.5 inches of diagonal twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining. After that diagonal twining continues until the rim where there are two weft rows of three strand twining. The design is a band of slanted stripes of alternating beargrass and red dyed woodwardia. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is only on the outside. The rim has the warp sticks sticking up above the rim, and are trimmed evenly. It is an uncommon basket, as very few baskets in Northwestern California are made of mostly diagonal twining. There is a hair woven into the basket.

Rim is out of shape. Tag "Klamath River Tribes Att.". Second tag "Klamath R. Tribes". Per Ralph Shanks: Globular twined basket bowl. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is possibly hazel or willow. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass and maiden hair fern. At the starting knot there is 1 inch of three strand twining. After that plain twining, that has bear grass overlay, for 1 inch followed by 2 rows of three strand twining. After that there is plain twining until the rim where there is 2 weft rows of three strand twining. The design includes a band of alternating diagonal black and tan lines on the base. The primary design is four diamonds with diagonal stripes inside them and surrounded by triangles. At the rim there another row of alternating diagonal black and tan lines. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is only on the outside. The rim is trimmed, and is unraveling. The basket is from Northwest California, possibly Yurok or Wiyot based on the design.

The weft material is conifer root. The weft overlay design is in beargrass, maidenhair fern, and red-dyed woodwardia. Starting at the starting knot, there is 3/4 inch of three strand twining, followed by 1.25 inches of plain twining, followed by 2 weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues to the rim where there is 1 weft row of three strand twining, followed by 1/4 inch of crossed warp openwork, followed by a reinforced wrapped rim. The rim is wrapped with beargrass. The main design is comprised of six alternating triangles with smaller triangles on each side. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is single-sided, with the design on the exterior. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction. The basket is from Northwest California.

Plain twining continues up to the rim. On the base there is a band of diagonal woodwardia on a conifer root background. After that is a band of diagonal lines of maidenhair fern with a woodwardia background. The main design is three diagonal bands of three sets of triangle arranged diagonally. Continuing up the basket there band of woodwardia outlined by maidenhair fern. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has a rightward work direction with an exterior workface. The overlay is only on the outside. The rim is trimmed. The basket is from Northwest California.

Plain twining continues up to the rim where there are two weft rows of three strand twining. The main design is a repeating design of three stacked parallelograms. It is framed above and below by small bands of alternating woodwardia and beargrass. The basket's base has no overlay. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The warp material is probably willow or hazel. The weft is conifer root. The weft overlay background is beargrass, with designs in black maiden hair fern stem and red dyed woodwardia. At the starting knot there is one 1/2 inch of three strand twining, after that 11/2 inch of plain twining, after that two weft rows of three strand twining, switching to plain twining until the rim, were there is two weft rows of three strand twining. The design is an alternating stacked triangle pattern. On the base there is a ring of slanted parallelograms. At the rim there are two rings of black with red hatches pointing down from it. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist with an exterior workface. This basket is from Northwestern California.
