The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, indented. The warp material is possibly hazel or willow. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass, red dyed woodwardia fern, and maidenhair fern. At the starting knot there is .5 inch of three strand twining followed by a 1/2 inch of diagonal twining, and then three weft rows of three strand twining, followed by a 1/2 inch of diagonal twining. Plain twining continues up to the rim. On the base there is a band of diagonal woodwardia on a conifer root background. After that is a band of diagonal lines of maidenhair fern with a woodwardia background. The main design is three diagonal bands of three sets of triangle arranged diagonally. Continuing up the basket there band of woodwardia outlined by maidenhair fern. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has a rightward work direction with an exterior workface. The overlay is only on the outside. The rim is trimmed. The basket is from Northwest California.
