Hearst Museum object titled Huipil, accession number 3-29908, described as Blouse; backstrap-loomed, plain weave, two-faced supplemental weft brocading, three pieces joined at back, front, sides, with randa, head hole cut out, hemmed with handstitching, decorated neckpiece, end selvedges loom-finished. Geometric borders, double-headed eagles, dots, triangles, zigzag designs. Materials, techniques: singles, cotton, white; wool, singles, multicolored, silk floss, white, gold; sedalina, two-ply, burgundy, fuchsia. Context of use: Neckpiece of commerical black cloth (faded), outlined with burgandy and magenta yarn; two medalions at shoulders have a pearl-like button at center; neckpiece hand-stitched, hem and cloth torn around lining; randa at mid-length with multi-colored yarns on both sides, front and back, and zigzag randa stitch in cotton blue yarn; uneven lengths in front and back of cloth; multicolored weft yarns found at bottom part. Conservation: Good, some dyes have bled.

Hearst Museum object titled Huipil, accession number 3-29434, described as huipil; unbleached cotton with supplementry wefts of red and yellow  randomly woven.  Neckline is embroidered with figures and flower motifs on a yellow ground (silk?)  A horizonal band of red, yellow and lavender runs about midsection.  The central and side seams are covered by banding of embroidered red and yellow squares.  The bottom is hemmed (hand-stitched), the armholes sef-selvaged.

Hearst Museum object titled Huipil, accession number 3-29583, described as Backstrap-loomed; balanced plain weave; single-faced supplemental weft brocading; two lienzos; end-selvedges loom-finished; joined center back and front with loose whip stitch. Uncut head opening. Huipil/blouse. Materials, techniques: Cotton; 3 singles in white; 6 singles in soft red, dark green and dark yellow; 2 two-ply in eggplant purple. Context of use: Collected and donated by Mrs. Esther Bevan, in the name of Imgaard and Jean Johnson. Red may be Alizarin dye, used in the 1930s (M. Schevill) and yellow dye the "old yellow" (de Geng). Iconography is geometric. Cloth label sewn inside onto right back panel, with "PHL A61" written in ink on it. Conservation: Original ground fabric probably once white, now yellowed with age. Good condition. Some spots, stains and supplemental weft brocading coming out in places.

Geometric designs. 52.5 cm x 78. 5 cm. Materials, techniques: Singles and two-ply cotton, red, blue, turquoise, orange, yellow, purple, dark blue, green, magenta, white, black. Context of use: Red background with jade and yellow vertical stripes and other colored warps worked in to accent on either side; supplemental weft brocading at arm holes have 1.5" fringes of yarn twisted and knotted at both ends, a unique feature of textiles from this town; aide seams also joined by randas.
