Black color is Maidenhair fern (Adiantum pedatum). Red color is Chain fern (Woodwardia spinulosa) dyed in Alder (Alnus rubra). Large, deep, twined. Worn from use. Red overlay coming off. White, red, and black overlay, 2-faced; diagonal sawtooth bands, some containing diamonds; flanked by diagonal rows of triangles. Mostly plain twined. 3-strand twining occurs: 4 cm radius from start, 3 rows begin 5.5 cm out, 2 rows at 8 cm out, 2 rows at 10 cm out, 3 rows at 11.5 cm out, 2 rows at 13 cm out, 1 row at 15 cm out, 2 rows at 17 cm out, 2 rows at 19 cm from start.

Overlay single-faced. Mostly plain twined. 3-strand twining at 0-4 cm from start; 1 row at 5.5 cm from start; 2 rows at 7.5-8 cm from start.

Almost completely overlaid, except bottom. Overlay is 2-faced; stripes around rim and a band of suspended triangles; major design consists of 2 horizontal bands of slanted diamonds, striped red and black, on white ground. Mostly plain twined. 3-strand twining occurs: at 4 cm radius from start, 3 rows starting at 6.5 cm out, and 2 rows from 10.5 cm out from start.

Designs of stacked rhomboids with sawtooth edges in black and red-brown on ground of beargrass overlay. Willow (?) shoot warp, pine root weft, overlay of Xerophyllum tenax, adiantum pedatum (black), and Woodwardia fern midrib fibers stained red with alder bark, also redbud bark at top and bottom of design. Note row of 3-strand parallel twining on base, a rare weave.

Twined, bowl-shaped. Grimy from use. 1-faced white overlay design, with lattice-twined grass stems dividing design. Three-strand twining for 1.5 cm radius from start; 2 single rows at approximately 5.5 and 6 cm from start.

Red pattern is Chain fern (Adiantum pedatum) in Alder (Alnus rubra). Rim bound with grape (Vitus californica). Small, twined. Grimy from use. Hoop broken in one spot. 2-faced red and white overlay. All-over stepped design. Below rim, a white band with a geometric motif repeated. Mostly plain twining. 3-strand twining occurs from the bottom up 7 cm; also the two top rows. Hoop stitched to the top. Inside the bottom scaffolding remains the bottom 12 cm. The packstrap is of blue denim and is tied on with buckskin thongs.

Black pattern is mud-dyed tule. Yellow pattern is Porcupine quills (Erethizon dorsatum) in Wolf lichen (Letharia vulpina). Modoc type. Twined; dyed black and yellow overlay design. Weft begun with cordage. Flat topped.
