Hoefler's Original description: "British India. A close-up view of one of the borders of multi-colored inlay in the entrance way to the Taj Mahal. These borders of flower-shaped inlays are composed of tiny veri-colored stones set into the white marble walls. The materials used are cornelian, onyx, jasper, coral from Ceylon, and chrysolite from the Nile. It is claimed by the inhabitants of Udaipur that the Emperor Shah Jahan gained his inspiration for its style of architecture from The Jag Mandir Island Palace in Pichola Lake, where he spent some time in exile while Prince Khurram. As to who really designed the Taj there is a great conflict of opinions, but the Emperor himself contributed many ideas there can be no doubt." (Prints Supplied To: Hills Brothers.)

Photograph shows Paul Hoefler with his motion picture equipment on top of the superb gateway of red-sandstone which spans the entrance to the garden wherein stands the Taj Mahal. A glimpse of this justly famous building is shown and two of the towers that flank it. The white marble used in the construction of the Taj was obtained from Jaipur and the red-sandstone from Fatehpur Sikri. It is said on good authority that the total cost of the Taj and adjacent buildings was ten and one-half million dollars, a stupendous sum when it is realized that very little, or nothing, was paid to the workmen.
