4" X 5" Black and white image of a portion of the relief at the Taj Mahal. Hoefler's original description: "British India. A close view of the inlay and marble relief carving in the entranceway to the Taj Mahal in Agra. There is a widely accepted tradition in India to the effect that after the completion of the Taj, that upon orders of the emperor Shah Jahan, the architect had his eyes gouged out, in order that no other edifice could be built anywhere in the world that would compare with this mausoleum."
