Hearst Museum object titled Dish, accession number 9-12438, described as Japan, Saga Prefecture (Hizen), Arita, Nangawara kiln (Kakiemon).  Plate, porcelain Kakiemon ware. One of four identical plates. Flat bottom, short turned out sides, shorter scalloped rim that turns up. Underglaze blue ring with two birds (partridges?), one blue, the other yellow enamel with black detail. Two flowering trees and bamboo outside the ring in blue, green, and yellow enamel, with red flowers. Dark blue underglaze saw-tooth pattern band on underside. Red lacquer zig-zag band below, near foot. Blue underglaze bands on foot. Height 2.5 centimeters, rim diameter 20 centimeters.

Hearst Museum object titled Dish, accession number 9-12380, described as Dish, porcelain with underglaze and overglaze enamel decoration. "Imari" ware. Rectangular shape, flat bottom, short curved out sides and recessed foot. Blue floral motif on center bottom, outlined with gold. Irregular band on sides with gold vine motif on red enamel ground, bordered by blue. Red "weave" pattern near bottom. Two spaces near rim with gold flower on green ground. Three blue filled circles on underside on white ground, (similar to Chinese coin design), with gold outline & filigree. Comb pattern on foot. Inscription on base almost identical to 9-12381. H. 3.7cm.
