Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-224007, described as Twined mush basket. Series of stepped rectangular designs. Tag "Klamath R. Tribes Att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, indented. The warp material is probably hazel. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass, maidenhair fern, and red- dyed woodwardia. At the starting knot there is three strand twining that extends for .75 inches, changing to plain twining for 1 inch, and then 1 weft row of three strand twining, followed by 3 weft rows of diagonal twining. Plain twining continues up to the rim. The main design is six elements with four tiers of rectangles each with a triangle on top, every other element is reversed. The basket's base has a beargrass overlay design radiating from the start. The rim has four weft rows of conifer root with no overlay. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has a rightward work direction with an exterior workface. The overlay is on the outside. The rim is trimmed. The basket is from Northwestern California.

Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl, probably not used. Double sided overlay. Crossed warp starting knot. Conifer root weft. The design overlay is beargrass, red dyed woodwardia, and maiden hair fern stem. The warp sticks are possibly willow or probably hazel. The designs are in red and white alternating right triangles. On the base the overlay is only on the outside, with one ring of red. At the starting knot there is about an inch of three strand twining, it then switches to plain twining until the edge of the base where there are five rows of three strand twining, turning again to plain twining up until the rim where there are at least two rows of three strand twining. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist with an exterior workface. This basket could possibly be a Whilkut basket but is at least from Northwestern California.

After that one weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues until the rim. The design on the base is a band of beargrass. On the sides there are three sets of a diagonal stacked parallelograms outlined by stepped triangles. At the rim is a ring of alternating beargrass and maidenhair fern. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is only on the outside. The basket is from Northwest California, possibly Yurok.

The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, which is partially wrapped. The warp material is probably hazel. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass. At the starting knot there is plain twining until .5 inch from rim, where there is one weft row of three strand twining, followed by plain twining until the rim. The rim is trimmed. The main design at the start is a beargrass sunburst, followed by two single weft rows of beargrass, followed by a band of beargrass triangles, followed by an inch-wide band of beargrass. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction. The overlay is primarily one-sided. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.
