Sword fighting and wrestling are favorite sports practiced among the Sinhalese, especially around Colombo; and these men display a great deal of skill at both of these sports.

During the dry season tigers come from great distances to the river, not only because of the water and the cooling shade to be found along the river's edge, but also because of the abundance of food to be found there. The Indian wild boar abounds hereabouts. Photograph shows a stone shooting tower, which is sometimes used in tiger shooting in this State. If a tiger is located below the tower, the beaters approach from two sides along the bank and land from boats, driving the tiger up the hill within range of the rifles.

It is the organization and catering to the comforts of the guests that make tiger hunting in India such a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
