4 x 5" Black and white negative of the City of Amber. Hoefler's original description: "Jaipur State, Rajputana, India. The ancient City of Amber. Amber is situated about six miles to the North of the present city of Jaipur, in the range of mountains called Kali Kho. The Minas occupied this territory and builded Amber, which they consecrated to Amba, another name for the Goddess Durga, the consort of Siva. In the lower right hand corner of the photograph is seen one of the ancient temples which helps to make Amber a place of such great historical interest." Verso: Prints Supplied To: Mondiale, London.
