4 x 5" Black and white negative of the Hoefler party taking camp at a popular tree for tiger hunting. Hoefler's original description: "Hoefler's original description: "Gwalior State, Central India. This large tree served as a rendezvous for the tiger hunters during one of the many hunts for the striped cats in the jungles of Gwalior. Here the party rested and partook of refreshments while awaiting word from the shikaris before proceeding the balance of the distance to the machans. It is the organization and catering to the comforts of the guests that make tiger hunting in India such a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
