A mountain-top pagoda references Yan’an and a rising red sun suggests a new China under new leadership. Inscription: “Never benefit yourself, always benefit others” (毫不利己专门利人 hao bu li ji zhuan men li ren). Kiln mark: “Zi River porcelain factory, Hunan 1970” (湖南資江瓷厂1970 Hunan Zijiang cichang 1970) A character “洞dong” on the interior. Place of Origin: Hunan Province Condition: Good, some signs of wear. Acquisition Data: Beijing, probably Panjiayuan. 2001-2005
Hearst Museum object titled Bowl, accession number 9-23619, described as Materials: Glazed porcelain Diameter at rim: 16 cm Date: 1969  Country: People’s Republic of China Description: Two alternating patterns each appear three times on the body. One portrays a tractor in the middle of a field with light radiating from the horizon. It is framed by wheat garlands on two sides and characters on the top reading “People’s Communes are good” (人民公社好renmin gongshe hao). The other decal pattern portrays green pine branches encircled by a double green ring. Black characters across the branches proclaim: “Happiness for ten-thousand springs” (幸福万年春xingfu wan nian chun).  Inscription: Kiln mark: “New Citizen porcelain factory, Liling 1969” (醴陵新民瓷厂 Liling Xinmin cichang, 1969). Interior has a character (井jing). Place of Origin: Liling, Hunan Province Condition: Signs of wear. Acquisition Data: Beijing, 2002-2003

Hearst Museum object titled Bowl, accession number 9-23620, described as Entry: No. CB87 Object Name: Bowl Materials: Glazed porcelain Diameter at rim: 16 cm Date: 1969 Country: People’s Republic of China Description:  Five black characters widely spaced around the upper part of the bowl form the slogan “Revolutionary committees are good” (革命委员会好 geming weiyuan hui hao). Each character is framed by a purple ring, surrounded by three sunflowers and green leaves.  Almost identical to No. 88. Inscription: Kiln mark: “Zi River porcelain factory, Hunan 1969” (湖南資江瓷厂Hunan Zijiang cichang 1969). Interior has a character (玉yu). Place of Origin: Hunan Province Condition: Good. Signs of wear Acquisition Data: Panjiayuan. Date: 2003-02-15
Hearst Museum object titled Mug and lid, accession number 9-23535a,b, described as Mug with lid from Great Hall of the People. The mug has a decal in monochrome of branches of the Welcoming Pine. The same motif is repeated on the lid. Missing its saucer. Inscription: Blue square kiln mark on foot: “Liling, China” (中國醴陵 Zhongguo Liling)
Hearst Museum object titled Mug, lid, saucer and doily, accession number 9-23550a-d, described as Mug with lid, saucer, and doily. The cup has a monochrome decal of the Welcoming pine tree. On the mug, at the lower right, an oval red mark reads “Great Hall” (大會堂 Dahuitang). Black decal pine branches are on the lid and saucer. Lid has the disctinctive flat slope and ball knob of the Liling kilns. The original paper doily is printed in blue with an image of the Great Hall of the People and the name in both English and Chinese.
