Hearst Museum object titled Tray, accession number 9-23878, described as Enamel tray. On a yellow ground two golden birds are stenciled. They perch on top of a banner that reads “Production and Construction” (生產建設Shengchan jianshe) in full form characters. The design is completed with a large red peony, a traditional symbol of prosperity, and nandina (tianzhu 天竹), the red berries of which suggest many sons.
