Description:
Enamel tray. On a yellow ground two golden birds are stenciled. They perch on top of a banner that reads “Production and Construction” (生產建設Shengchan jianshe) in full form characters. The design is completed with a large red peony, a traditional symbol of prosperity, and nandina (tianzhu 天竹), the red berries of which suggest many sons. The edge is pale green; a dark brown bowstring decorates the rim. Acquisition Data: Panjiayuan, Beijing, Wang Zhanhua王占华, woman vendor from Shenyang, with Bob Thorp. RMB 120, 2006-09-30.
