Tag "Kl. R. Tr. Att.". In black pen on the interior of the basket is an "R" and a swastika, probably owner/ dealer marks. Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket lid/ cover. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, covered with maidenhair fern on both sides. The warp material is possibly hazel or willow. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass and maidenhair fern. At the starting knot there is .5 inch of three strand twining. After that plain twining continues until the rim, where there is one weft row of three strand twining. The design is four rows of alternating black and tan at the base, followed by diagonal stepped zigzags. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is primarily on the outside. The rim is trimmed. The basket is from Northwest California, possibly Yurok based on the designs. There is a hair woven into the basket.

Tag "Kl. R. Tr. Att.". There is a swastika in ink on the interior of the lid. Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket lid. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably hazel. The weft material is conifer root. The weft overlay design background is beargrass, with red dyed woodwardia and maiden hair fern designs. Starting at the starting knot, there is plain twining until one inch from the rim, where there is one weft row of lattice twining. Plain twining continues until the rim, which is trimmed. The main exterior design is a horizontal band of maidenhair fern and woodwardia rectangles, with a flower shape at the base of the knob. The interior design is a band of woodwardia and beargrass rectangles. The overlay is double-sided, but is primarily on the exterior. The lid has a rightward work direction, with up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwest California, possibly Whilkut based on the interior design band.
