Hearst Museum object titled Container for betel, accession number 18-500, described as Deep rectangular container of brass with two compartments, four feet each with coin roller. Used by women in ever “Abat” ceremony as “Sirih” cup or tray for “Sirih” (betel); sometimes combined with “Pinang” (Areca nut) and “Sadah” (betel lime) for presenting “Sirih” (betel). “Sirih” cup is a symbol of respect and is presented in every “Abat” ceremony; when important officials enter village at time of ceremony; they are met and offered “Sirih.” 24.3 x 13.3 cm.
