Hearst Museum object titled Mola, accession number 3-27475, described as 'mola'; meander pattern with filler in 2 corners.  alternating bands of two-layer applique and 4-layer applique using 'dientes' (ric-rac effect).  4-layers and 2-layers: orange ground with either single applique band or 2nd layer of black, red 4th, and 3rd of multicolored 'dientes'; with 'oba gala' (red layers); 14 colors total.  black layer is machine stitched.  MariLyn Salvadore: probably worked on by several people.  worn.  46 x 37 cm.

'morgonikat' type (3 layers with multicolored filler).  bilaterally symmetrical rectangular design with dientes (ric-rac effect).  side selvages were at one time machine stitched, rest is hand worked.  MariLyn Salvadore says is old design, old colors, but not necessarily an old mola.  34.8 x 30 cm.

Hearst Museum object titled Mola, accession number 3-27477, described as 'mola'; machete motif, 4 units of two facing pair of machetes; 'tas-tas' (short parallel slits) filler; added appliqued "button" pieces on machete handles.  multilayered with black ground, red top, multicolored 'tas-tas'; up to 7 layers of applique in portions.  2nd layer is both machine and hand stitched, was machine stitched along side selvages at one time.  MariLyn Salvadore: crudely worked, horrible example as is 3-27478.  in 1974 machete designs were fad in mola motifs; both this and 3-27478 are copied from similar molas.  47.3 x 37 cm.
Hearst Museum object titled Mola, accession number 3-27472, described as 'mola'; basic motif af angular paired volutes arranged in an all-over regular pattern which is divided vertically by narrow strips of red ground; 16 units, 4 across by 4 down.  one volute has a single strip of fill.  4 layers: red ground, black 2nd layer, multicolored 3rd, red top.  faded and worn.  machine stitched along top and side selvages, rest is hand stitched.  52 x 38.5 cm.
