Hearst Museum object titled Sash, accession number 9-23797, described as Sash maragees? (Arabic unknown) that is weft-twined in one long piece, ending in three tassels fastened onto white cotton warp ends. Red-orange, orange, green, blue, maroon, and white cotton. Top edge stiffened with wood and loop attached for hanging. Black and white wrapping on sides. May have been used as saddlebag tassel originally; function unclear. Seems to have been warped with larkshead knots and worked in a hanging position. Commercial dye used. S-ply. January 2019: I wonder if these sashes weren't used to decorate a "hiney" - riding litter. Weft in orange, maroon, red-orange, green, a grayed, faded colors (blue or purple?) on white cotton warp/ Same larkshead knots for warp. S-ply, commercial dye used. January 2019: I wonder if these sashes weren't used to decorate a "hiney" - riding litter. See #134
