Description:
Sash maragees? (Arabic unknown) that is weft-twined in one long piece, ending in three tassels fastened onto white cotton warp ends. Red-orange, orange, green, blue, maroon, and white cotton. Top edge stiffened with wood and loop attached for hanging. Black and white wrapping on sides. May have been used as saddlebag tassel originally; function unclear. Seems to have been warped with larkshead knots and worked in a hanging position. Commercial dye used. S-ply. January 2019: I wonder if these sashes weren't used to decorate a "hiney" - riding litter.
