Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled basket winnowing tray.  Tight spiral, pinhole start.  The basket has a three rod foundation, probably willow.  The weft materials are peeled and unpeeled redbud.  The design at the base is a four sided star/flower.  On the sides is one horizontal band of zigzags, forming a four pointed star/flower.   The workface is on the inside, with many split stitches on the backface.  The weft fag ends are concealed and the work direction is to the left.  The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a blunt coil ending.  This is basket is attributed to the Patwin due to the shape and depth of the basket and the peeled redbud background.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Broad low bowl in shape of winnower; made for sale.  Materials include a deergrass bundle foundation and orange, tan, and black dyed juncus wefts.  The primary design is a coiled rattlesnake.  The workface is on the inside.  The wefts are bound under and the work direction is to the right.  The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a half inch long herringbone finish.
