Coiled basket, deep tray. Tag "Maidu att.". Tag on baskets "D-62". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket winnowing tray. Tight spiral, pinhole start. The basket has a three rod foundation, probably willow. The weft materials are peeled and unpeeled redbud. The design at the base is a four sided star/flower. On the sides is one horizontal band of zigzags, forming a four pointed star/flower. The workface is on the inside, with many split stitches on the backface. The weft fag ends are concealed and the work direction is to the left. The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a blunt coil ending. This is basket is attributed to the Patwin due to the shape and depth of the basket and the peeled redbud background.
