Hearst Museum object titled Shield, accession number 5-7839, described as Shield; metal; rectangular with flared ends; handle formed of branch tied by wire to back; hide strip attached to center of handle; length: 90.5 cm; width: 33 cm. Used by men in combat to protect body. Traditionally this shield is of hide, but most have been taken from the Karamojong in cattle raids. This was confiscated by police in cattle raids by Karamojong. Native name: Aupal. Collected Dec. 1966.
