Image Missing: Hearst Museum object titled Jar, accession number 9-12610a,b, described as Jar with lid: cloisonne on porcelain. High, wide shouldered jar on narrow base, with short, narrow neck. Very slight lip on rim. Lid is high dome with sculpted figure of a lion-dog (Karashishi) sitting on top. Scalloped white band around top of lid, shoulder and base of jar with floral and scrollwork designs within, outlined by red, brown and black circles. Turquoise ground on middle of body with three scallop-edged panels, with white, brown and black grounds within each respectively. Different design with in each including birds, butterflies, and floral blossoms, in many colors. Royal blue band on neck of jar. Top of lid (b) is glazed with translucent green and red enamel decoration. Lion-dog, is glazed with gold lacquer detail. Gold around rim of lid. Interior of each is glazed, clear and crackled. Surface of exterior is crowded with small heart-shaped, brass cloisons. Many pits in enamel at base. Height (a) 20 cm; (b) 11.5 cm.
