Hearst Museum object titled Caterpillar figurine, accession number 3-30759, described as WOODEN FIGURE: Carved and painted wooden caterpillar. Carved in 5 sculpted segments plus a head, with 11 applied legs on each side, 20 red “spines” along back (4 of which are broken away but are with the figure; several others are loose). Head had two long antennae painted red with alternating blue and yellow stripes (one of which is broken but with the figure), 2 bulbous eyes painted red, yellow, black and white and a forked tongue painted red. The body is blue with tiny white dots over which are applied figures of no specific shape that are green decorated with red dots with yellow centers. Each is bordered with yellow, except the last green figure on the right rear. A white band demarks each segment. A “Huecho en Mexico” sticker on bottom.

Hearst Museum object titled Fan, accession number 3-28256a,b, described as Textile Ornaments "God's Eyes." Materials: Wool yarn, wood sticks. Techniques: Yarn wrapped onsticks. Colors: a-multicolor wrappings on natural wood. b-same. Dimensions: a-18 1/2" x 10 1/2", b-23 1/2" x 15 1/2". Remarks: Huichol Indians make these, were meaningful in color and design for protecting crops and children, now popularized. A--single cross with yarn fringe. B--5 crosses with cotton tufts at ends.

Hearst Museum object titled Toy, accession number 3-30705, described as WOODEN TOY: Movable wooden toy featuring a picador on horseback and a bull. When a center button is depressed, the picador and horse lunge forward to spear the bull in the withers as it lunges forward as well. White wood, painted fuchsia, black yellow and turquoise.

Hearst Museum object titled Toy, accession number 3-30708, described as WOODEN TOY: Pecking bird. Articulated bird (painted fuchsia and turquoise w/ white markings) affixed to a slotted platform w/ an acorn cap affixed to one end. A string, attached to the bird’s head and tail, passes through the slots in the base and is weighted with a small bead of clay. When the bead moves the bird bobs it’s head into the “dish” and it’s tail bobs.

Hearst Museum object titled Toy, accession number 3-30707, described as WOODEN TOY; Carousel: formed with a base and roof separated by two narrow poles, and painted purple, green, red and yellow. At center is a central pole to which wooden cross pieces are attached via a central post which passes through them. On each end of the cross pieces sit a child made of painted plaster. Clothing and facial features are roughly painted. Center post rests in a circular carrier, which allows it to rotate.
