Hearst Museum object titled Spearhead, accession number 9-16759, described as Spear Head. Rat tanged, button base. Honed ovate blade with gentle sloping mid-rib. Shaft above circular stop incised with herringbone pattern; minimal thickening at “button” end. 1.5 x 2.0 cm loss on one shoulder. Mottled green patina. Length of blade 25.0 cm; Length of decorated tang 4.6 cm; Length of square tang 10.6 cm; width 5.0 cm.

Rat-tanged, button base; long near-round shaft with v-shaped stop; well defined “button” below rectangular tang. Ovate-shaped blade with elevated round mid-rib. Mottled green patina with small encrustation on handle. Minor corrosion losses on blade. Length of blade 19.8 cm; Length of round tang 10.0 cm; Length of rec. tang 9.2 cm; width 4.0 cm.

Rolled socket pierced on each side for rivet. Crusty green patina; some dirt encrustations. Form of spear-head found from Caucasus to Persian Talish with a related type from Kurvin. Sockets of near equal length as blade are characteristic of Caucasian and Western Persian spear-heads in the late 2nd and 1st millennium BC. Length of blade, 14.8 cm, Length of socket: 13.0 cm; width: 6.2 cm.
