Hearst Museum object titled Bed posts and slats, accession number 5-16811a-h, described as (a-d) four carved wooden bed posts with incised designs.  round pedestal foot painted green; square central section with tenons in both directions to receive side and head boards, topped with a dark purple knob.  square section decorated on 4 sides with geometric designs (chevrons, zigzags, 'X's, carved bands, diamonds, etc.) painted green and purple. a) curator's number on sticker (40) affixed to top; conservation - major drying cracks on side of base and square center section. b) curator’s number on sticker (37) affixed to top; conservation - large drying crack down one uncarved side from top to base. c) curator's number on sticker (39) is affixed to top; conservation - crack from drying in carved center segment on one side and minor cracks on same side of foot and top knob. d) curator's number on sticker (38) affixed to top; conservation - drying crack on top knob and square section on one side. e) side slat - wood, hand carved with incised geometric designs, 16 squares with geometric designs form a center band, painted green or purple, bordered by a purple band on one side with a double line zigzag pattern, and on the other by a purple band with 'X's in boxes divided by incised bars.  board is carved in an "L" shape to form a lip on which mattress slats can rest.  each end contains a tenon 9 x 5cm, 6cm from end. curator's number on sticker (44) affixed to surface. f) side slat - wood, hand carved with incised geometric designs, 19 squares with geometric designs form a center band painted green or purple, bordered by a purple band with a zigzag pattern edged with a toothed pattern, and on the other side a purple band with 'X's in boxes divided by incised bars.  bar is carved in an "L" shape to form a lip on which mattress slats can rest.  each end contains a tenon; one 10 x 5cm, the other 8 x 6cm. curator's number on sticker (43) affixed to surface. g)end slat - carved design; incised geometric patterns in 8 center square, alternating green and purple, bordered by purple diamond pattern on one side and green combination diamond and alternating 'X' and bars on the other.  slat constructed with mortise on each end of 21cm and 17cm respectively.  each mortise has a round hole, approximately 2.5cm, 5cm from the end (which fits into a tenon in the side boards).  verso is plain. curator's number on sticker (41) affixed to surface; conservation - water damage along one edge for the whole width of one border band, very fragile.  loose fragment in accompanying bag. h) end slat - wood, carved design; incised geometric pattern in 7 center squares alternating green and purple, bordered on one side by 2 bands - outer green with diamond pattern, inner, purple with zigzag pattern. opposing side also has 2 bands; outer, green with diamond pattern; inner, purple with double line zigzag pattern.  slat constructed with mortise at each end (20cm) with a 2.5cm hole 6cm from each end.  verso is plain. curator's number on sticker (42) affixed to surface; conservation - water damage along one edge for the whole width of one border band.  loose fragment in accompanying bag.
Hearst Museum object titled Broom, accession number 5-16828, described as grass fiber hand broom.  long grass strands sewn to form a row then coiled into a broom which is bound 3cm from the top using twine in 3 bands then sewn through from 4 sides to stabilize.  finished with a grass loop at top.
Hearst Museum object titled Container, accession number 5-16834, described as container for liquids.  a gourd decorated with 8 strands of cowrie shells in groups of 2 strands per group.  each strand has 4 or 6 shells and attaches to a woven ring stand.  stand and a neck on the gourd with cap are woven of grass or reed.  grass colors are green, red and natural light brown.  thin reddish leather strap.  gourd is brown.
