- container for liquids. a gourd decorated with 8 strands of cowrie shells in groups of 2 strands per group. each strand has 4 or 6 shells and attaches to a woven ring stand. stand and a neck on the gourd with cap are woven of grass or reed. grass colors are green, red and natural light brown. thin reddish leather strap. gourd is brown.
