This type seems to be due to influence of the Athapaskans in Southern Humboldt county.

Black and white 2-faced overlay design. Stepped diagonal zigzag motif, with V-shaped motifs above. These are horizontally striped in black and brown. 3-strand twining occurs on the bottom.

Mostly plain twined. 3-strand twining occurs: top 3 rows, approximately 2.5 cm from start.

Scoop-shaped. Open twined work. Groups of 2 or 3 close rows of plain twining, with another row slanted the opposite direction. Rim hoop of peeled shoots is sewn on to 3 sides, but not to top. Loops and ties are made of buckskin, except for one made of dark cotton.

One scaffold is inside. Woven to 17 cm height.

The warp ends have been twined together to form rim.

White overlay, single-faced, floats on back. Stepped design flanked by linked triangles. 2 shoots are lattice twined on bottom at 4.5-5.5 cm and 12-13 cm from start. Basket was turned inside out after completion. Grimy from use. Lattice twining has come partially undone. String repairs. Also a break in edge and in center.
