Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Openwork twined basket bowl. Used, with wear and some residue. The start is a cross-warped twined start. The warp foundation is primarily unpeeled shoot rods. The background wefts are unknown unpeeled red shoot and the design wefts are peeled. The design is one horizontal band of peeled material. The rim is made of warps bound down to the right on the interior of the basket, forming a looped trim on the rim. The basket has an exterior work face, a rightward work direction, and an up to the right slant of weft twist.

It has been broken and repaired in 5 places, the repairs appear to be native, 2 repairs done with string and 3 done with the weft material. Basket is used with a great deal of food debris. Cross-warp start with plain twining to the rim. At the rim there are 4 open-work weft rows that are more closely spaced than the rest of the basket. The materials appear to be peeled shoots but are so stained and coated it is difficult to identify. Warps are neatly trimmed. There is an exterior work face with a rightward work direction. Twined start, slightly indented. Three rod foundation of peeled shoots. Redbud wefts, both peeled and unpeeled. The overall design is four horizontal bands of undulating steps, with a horizontal band of triangles at the rim. There are three U shaped designs at the base. There are no random rectangles. The rim is wrapped, with an inch long tapered ending. The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction and a mixed slant of weft twist. The weft fag ends are clipped and concealed; the moving ends are concealed and clipped. There are about 90% split stitches on the interior and about 50% split on the exterior. There is a hair woven into the basket, one coil row below the rim finish.
