Hearst Museum object titled Canoe shaped basket, accession number 1-10153, described as Boat basket; coiled. Warp is Willow (Salix) and Epicampes (Sporobolus rigens), weft is Redbud (Cercis occidentalis). Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). Large and in the shape of an elliptical canoe.  Decoration consists of 5 groups of black and red horizontal lines; each group contains eleven parallel lines (or stitches).  The basket is executed in single-rod coiling with interlocking stitches.

Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina).  Decoration: crossing diagonal red/black-colored bands. 3-rod coiling with interlocking stitches. Rim is cracked at several places.

Pattern is mud-dyed Brake fern (Pteris quilina). 3-rod coiling with interlocking stitches. Decoration: slightly oblique, irregular black bands. Design material is bracken fern root. Basket is very worn. It has been extensively repaired at base, but there are many breaks both near the base and at the rim.
