Hearst Museum object titled Bowls, accession number 9-12724a-f, described as Bowls (a,b); lids (c,d); saucers (e,f); porcelain w/ overglaze enamel decor. Cups have low waist; fairly straight expanding sides and flared out rim. Interior plain, exterior decorated w/ motif common to all pcs.: polychrome enamel floral scrollwork on dark blue ground. Four reserve medallions containing a different character each (longevity, etc.) in gold. Band around rim containing red, blue, yellow key-fret pattern on turquoise ground. Lids (c&d) are flat-bowl shaped w/narrow cylinder finial, w/ same design on upper side. Saucers (e&f) are bowl-shaped w/ slight lobes in rim and deep depressed centers (pedestal) for foot of bowls. Design on upper side. Gilt on rim of all pcs. (a-d) have coral-red reign mark of Kuang hsu (1875-1908). Chips in rim of (a&b). H. (a&b): 6.3cm. Dia. 10.1; H. (c&d) 1.2cm. Dia, 9.3 H. (e&f) 3.4cm. Dia. 11cm.

'Nabeshima ware, wide, shallow bowl shape, on tall pedestal foot.  four clusters of pomegranates w/ blue underglaze leaves and branches, and blue-green enamel leaves.  darker blue outline.  pomegranates are in light and dark red enamel w/ touches of yellow.  pure white ground.  3 Chinese coin designs w/ fillets on underside*.  Nabeshima 'comb' pattern band around foot.  one of four identical plates.  H. 4.5 cm. rim Dia. 21.6 cm.

"Dutch ship" type "Imari" ware.  1 of 3.  rather small, shallow plate.  central medalion containing 3-masted ship w/ flags flying from each, and large flag at stern;  depicted entirely in red, black and gold, except for touches of green on sail.  two 'scroll'-like dragons in reserve on surrounding band.  2 panels opp. ea. other on sides contain small versions of ship.  floral motifs on the other two sids w/ 2 Dutchmen between each;  some holding their hats, others holding Japanese fans.  flroal lozange-diaper pattern ground of grey & green.  underside:  2 panels w/ ships & 2 medalions w/ men.  red flowers & blue leaves between.  H.  3 cm.  Dia.  19 cm.
