Native Name and Meaning: "malaypalm thali ollai grantham" (palmetto leaf treatise). Relates to the Puranas, a body of Hindu myths and legends dating back as far as 1500 years. This type of script is an example of a book often used for writing Malayazhma, an archaic form of Malayalam, a language spoken in Kerala. The original cord would have been made of pineapple fiber.
