Diagonal series of squares within each brown mass. Rim is misshapen. Tag "Kl. R. Tr. att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined globular basket bowl. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably willow. The weft material is conifer root. The weft overlay design is beargrass and maidenhair fern. Starting at the starting knot, there is .5 inch of three strand twining, followed by 1 inch of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues to the rim where there are two weft rows of three strand twining, followed by a 1/4 inch of crossed warp open work. The rim is wrapped with beargrass and maidenhair fern. The main design is three sets of four diagonally stepped geometric figures outlined in triangles with a diagonal chain of diamonds through the center of the figures. The basket has a rightward work direction, with up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is single-sided, with the design on the exterior. The basket is from Northwest California.

Per Ralph Shanks: Unfinished twined basket bowl. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably hazel. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass and maidenhair fern. At the starting knot there is three strand twining that extends for 1 inch, changing to plain twining for 1/4 inch, followed 1 weft row of three strand twining. Plain twining continues up to where the weaving ends. Starting at the base there is conifer root with no overlay, followed by alternating beargrass and conifer root. At the edge of the base is a horizontal band of maidenhair fern with beargrass stripes. The main design is four elements comprised of triangles arranged diagonally, with connecting lines. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has a rightward work direction with an exterior workface. The overlay is on the outside. The basket is from Northwestern California.

Design is diagonal mass in dark brown with triangular projections with opposing yellow porcupine quill triangular patterns. Tag on interior "Klamath R. tribes att.". Porcupine quill treated with DDT in 1975. Per Ralph Shanks: Globular twined basket bowl, not used. Indented crossed warp starting knot with a single sided overlay on the outside. The warp material is probably willow or hazel. The weft is conifer root. The weft overlay background is beargrass, with designs in black maiden hair fern stem and yellow dyed porcupine quill. At the starting knot there is one inch of three strand twining, after that two inches of plain twining, after that one weft row of three strand twining, followed by one weft row of lattice twining, followed by one row of three strand twining, switching to plain twining until the rim, were there is two weft rows of three strand twining followed by one plain twined row. The design is three horizontal bands with triangle patterns on the outside. On the base there are four black designs and then there is a ring of black with rectangles coming off of it, with a similar pattern at the rim. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist with an exterior workface. This basket is from Northwestern California.

Starting at the starting knot is 1/2 inch of three strand twining, followed by plain twining until one inch below the rim, where there is one weft row of three strand twining. After that plain twining continues to the end of the rim, which is trimmed. The design background overlay is beargrass. The main design is three horizontal rows of seven elements comprised of seven lines with triangles at the end. At the rim are seven sets of three lines with triangles at the end. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the interior, with a rightward work direction. The overlay is on the interior. The basket is from Northwestern California.

The wefts are conifer root, as well as possibly another material. The basket is plain twined, with even spacing between the wefts. The warps are crossed for two rows begining 1 inch below the rim. After this there are three close weft rows. The rim is trimmed. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The work direction is to the right. The workface is on the exterior. Rattan rim. Tag " Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl with pedestal, made for sale. Crossed warp starting knot. The warps are willow or hazel. The rim has rattan like materials. The weft is conifer root with an overlay of beargrass background and designs in red dyed woodwardia, one weft row of maiden hair fern, and two weft rows of unknown black material that has multiple strands. Starting at the bowl's starting knot there are four weft rows of three strand twining, followed by 1.5 inches of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by plain twining up to the rim, where there is 1/8 inch of open work, with crossed warps, followed by two weft rows of plain twining. There are two reinforcing rods on either side of the rim. The pedestal of the basket, starting at the part furthest from the basket bowl, has a similar rim, with two reinforcing rods, followed by 1/8 to 1/4 inch of open work crossed warps, followed by plain twining to where the pedestal meets the bowl, where there is one weft row of three strand twining followed by three weft rows of plain twining, followed by several weft rows of three strand twining. The primary design includes isolated elements of horizontal steps, three stacked vertically. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction and an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is single sided, on the exterior, except on the base which is on the interior. The basket is from Northwest California.

The weft overlay design is in beargrass, maidenhair fern, and a reddish black material. Starting at the starting knot, there is .5 inch of three strand twining, followed by 2 inches of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues to the rim where there is a 1/16 inch of parallel warp open work. The rim is comprised of a few weft rows of plain twining with one reinforcing rod wrapped with alternating beargrass and a reddish black material. The main design is stepped parallelograms bisected by three checkered lines finished with a triangle at the top and bottom. At the edge of the base there is a horizontal line of triangles. The basket has a rightward work direction, with up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is single-sided, with the design on the exterior. At the base there is a band of beargrass overlay with a many-sided star pattern in woodwardia and maidenhair fern. The main design is ten diagonal patterns in woodwardia with horizontal black maidenhair fern lines in them. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has a rightward work direction with an exterior workface. The overlay is mainly on the outside. The rim is trimmed. The basket is from Northwestern California, possibly Karuk based on the designs.
