Upper 2/3 comprised of alphabets in four different cases and two floral/zigzag transverse bands; in lower third, “Miss Elizabeth Ortley wrought this in the eleventh year of her age in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen New York” in green; dark stains overall; 43.3 cm by 39 cm. Silk embroidery (varicolored) on very loose plain weave cotton ground.
