8 x 10" Black and white negative of the Tomb of Muhammad Ghaus. Hoefler's original description: "Gwalior State, Central India. Tomb of Muhammad Ghaus (early Mughal period). This tomb was erected in the early part of Akbar's Reign and is a most interesting specimen of the tombs of that period, the design being a combination of Pathan, Mughal and Rajput architectures. Muhammad Ghaus was a well-known Mohammedan Saint of the 16th Century. He died in 1562, leaving an enviable reputation; for it is said that he never uttered the word "I"; and that he was free from pride and egotism." Verso: Prints Supplied To: Dollar Line. S.
