carafe; bottom reads "Model of Ancient Carafe dredged off Goodwin Sands". inverted egg shape with a small cylindrical foot. two spouts which are connected at each end of the handle, which is a sharp angle arch. the left spout is a cylindrical neck narrowing to a small, gold trimmed mouth; the right spout is a wider cylinder, trimmed in gold. the handle is attached to each spout neck. the shield is in a classic shape with a red background, there are three yellow lions stacked on each other, the largest on top. over the top lion is a white bar triangulated "tags" hanging equidistant from each other. below the shield is a yellow scrolling ribbon with "Lancashire". made by W.H. Goss, 1858-1887.
