Context of use: Old notes inside: "My Dear Viola - I want you to have this birch bowl, as it was given to me in Old Deerfield, Mass. in 1834 by an old lady of 80 years - the Indians having-made-given it to her when she was a child. [Enjoy?] and keep it as long as I have done. [ ?] Aunt Jane." "Given to me in Old Deerfield, Mass. the year that I was born, 1833: by an old lady who was always called "Granny" Arms, age 93. The Indians made it and gave it to her when a child. Jane E. Church." Note on underside: "Given by the Indians to a little girl in Old Deerfield, Mass. in the year 1730. Owned by Miss Jane Church.
