Basketry covered bottle, twined. Per Ralph Shanks: Tag: "28 label says Modoc 14X 5" but closely like L. J. Lee of Quincy #64, 83 Pitt River L.L.L.". Achumawi or Atsugewi. Conifer root weft, beargrass background overlay, maidenhair fern designs. Designs include cross bands at shoulder and base, and a quail plume design around middle of bottle. Primarily plain twining, base has three strand twining, at shoulder lattice twining. Cordage at top of neck, perhaps for repair. Has separate cap. Also has handle.
