Description:
Coiled, deep tray. Tag "Mission Type". Per Ralph Shanks: Large open bowl. Deergrass bundle foundation. Background is sumac; designs are in orange and black-dyed juncus. The design is a broad band outlined by a single coil of black-dyed juncus. In the center of the band are four sets of three vertical diamond chains. The design is most similar to the Luiseño tribe’s baskets. The workface is on the interior. The work direction is to the right. The basket has bound under weft fag ends. The coil ending on the rim has three back stitches.
