- A gift to ACW from Bertina Lopez Cumez of SCP in May 2012. Two paper tags attached to hem: (removed) —“ACW #20” —“Tzute, Guatemala. Given to me by Bertina Lopez Cumez, of Santa Catarina Palopó, Sololá, Guatemala, on her stay with me in San Francisco, CA May 2012.” Tzute. 2 panels, one with both ends hemmed, one with one hemmed end and one finished selvage, connected by decorative stitching (randa) in purple, green, blues, and a variegated redbrown. Plain weave. Black warp background supports multicolored warp stripes containing simple warp ikat stripes in black and green, black and blue, black and red, etc.; these warp stripes alternate with representational warp ikat patterning in black and pink, black and green, etc., showing human and possibly plant motifs. Note 7 sections of unpatterned warp at end of one panel. (Detail shot shows several of these unpatterned areas.)
