Cast of Aphrodite (Latin: Venus) crouching in the bath. From a marble in the Vatican, Rome. Found about 1760 near the Via Praenestina. Restored: back of head, upper part of left ear, parts of hands and feet, greater part of base. The goddess is crouching beneath a jet of water. This type, of which there are several examples, may have been created by Daedalos, the Bithynian, who flourished a little later than Alexander. Compare with Helbig no. 252.
