Description:
A hand-painted scene of a soldier-like figure between two trees in the foreground, waving a red flag, as if signaling to the fortress across the river. Inscription: “Red flag over Jinjiang” (锦江红旗 Jinjiang hongqi) [note that this style of calligraphy was later imitated in decals in late 1976-1977 following the arrest of the Gang of Four, part of the revival of pre-CR styles]. “Spring of 1953 produced by Jing City ceramic art cooperative of dependents of military martyrs” (一九五三年春月景市烈軍工属陶艺加工合作社出品 Jinjiang hongqi yi jiu wu san nian chunyue jingshi liejun gong shu taoyi jiagong hezuoshe chupin) (followed by a seal). On the back a long inscription by 王守信Wang Shouxin, concludes with: strive to protect the security of the nation (為保衛祖國安全而奮鬥 wei zuguo anquan er fendou). Foot: Kiln mark: “Cooperative of dependents of military martyrs, Jingzhen” (景镇烈軍工属合作社Jing zhen lie jun gong shu hezuoshe)
