Description:
Top: toy top with cord. Length 10 cm. Diameter 30 cm. Cord tapered with loop at wide end. Cord (b) coiled circumference 38 cm. Cord 9c) coiled circumference 38 cm. Used when rice is just starting to mature, from flower stage till ripe. Made by men and used by men. No competition in 1976 due to poor harvest. Tops made by village specialists who sell them. Top spinning is felt to be an essential part of rice growing bringing on a bountiful harvest. Competition from local to national level. (Cost in U.S. dollars: 1.67)
