4" x 5" Negative. Expedition members unload the trucks at the edge of the Chari River. Hoefler's original description: "French Congo. Unloading at the edge of the Chari River in order to cross on a small native ferry. It was plenty hot here and the sandy wastes extended for many miles behind and in front of us. It was always a mystery what lay ahead, but that is what made the effort worth while."
